Questions, and honest answers
Asked by real people. Answered in good faith. A few of them will recur.
Is this a real product?
No. Whiskerwing is a proof-of-concept marketing site built to answer one very specific question: what would the world's most unnecessary product look like, done with full seriousness? There is no checkout, no company, and no cat in any meaningful sense of either word.
Would it actually be safe for cats if it were real?
That is the fun part, and we answered it properly: prop guards on every rotor, maximum thrust capped below anything a cat could be harmed by, mist volumes under 0.1 ml of a formula a vet would sign off on, and a two-meow veto that cancels the mission instantly. If a product's safety plan is "the cat can say no," you are on the right track.
How does the drone know my cat smells "bad" and not just "cat"?
During the first week the Sentry records the cat's baseline. After that it is comparing against your cat, not an objective smell standard. "Cat that rolled in something" and "cat that is fine" are distinguishable. The machine's only job is to know the difference, which cats themselves conspicuously refuse to do.
My cat already smells fine. Would the drone still follow it around?
No. This is the part everyone misses: the Sentry is a reactive device. A cat that passes the sniff (and most cats, in private, do) simply gets hovered near once a day out of professional courtesy. It is a surveillance state for odor, not a perfume addiction. The cat is never misted, never followed a second time, and can live out its days in undisturbed smell.
My cat will absolutely hate this. What happens?
Two meows of protest aborts the burst — that is in the Ethics Charter, hardcoded. The Sentry disengages vertically, returns to its dock, and, if your cat is the type to hold grudges, we strongly recommend the FS-1, which is small enough that a swatted drone simply falls to the carpet and gives up. There is no model with a vendetta.
I have six cats. Is that a problem?
Six cats is the ceiling, not the problem — it is the Clique Max's entire reason for existing. Colony mode assigns per-cat scent profiles, runs staggered missions so nobody gets cornered, and gives the alpha No. 1 out of respect for the position. We do not service households with more than six cats. We are not cowards. We have simply drawn a line.
What perfume does it actually put on the cat?
One of six: No. 1 Fleur de Chasse, No. 2 Vetiver Whisker, No. 3 Minty Prowl, No. 4 Vanilla Vigil, No. 5 Citrus Feral, or No. 6 Sea Glass Trudge. All soft, all short-lived, none of them a cologne. The FS-2 Feral carries a physical dial with all six, selected mid-hover, which is the single best feature in the line-up.
Do I need an app, an account, or a subscription?
No. The Sentry is a shelf appliance: you dock it, it goes to work, it comes home. No app, no cloud, no "Sentry+" tier, no firmware update that reorders your furniture. The only ongoing cost is replacement vials and the occasional treat to smooth things over.
What is the warranty?
In this fictional version: one year against defects, lifetime against the cat's grudges (we will, in principle, replace drones a cat has swatted). In the real version — this website — the warranty is your imagination, and it is unlimited.
How do I buy one?
You can't, which is the point of the exercise and also, frankly, a relief for everyone involved. The bag, the reserve button, and the total in the drawer all work end to end — that part is real. The commerce, the drones, and the cat-safe perfumes are the part that lives one step further out.
